TEHRAN – The Film Museum of Iran commemorated the deceased Iranian filmmaker Rasul Mollaqolipur by planting a sapling in its courtyard on Saturday.

His family and a number of his friends and colleagues also attended a special ceremony held a day before Arbor Day.

Actors Saeid Pursamimi, Jamshid Hashempur and Habib Dehqan-Nasab, director Azizollah Hamidnejad, producer Mehdi Karimi, and Film Museum of Iran director Mohammad Heidari delivered speeches at the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Mollaqolipur’s son, Ali, who is also a director, said that he is very grateful because planting a tree is something that his father liked.

Hashempur, who starred in some of Mollaqolipur’s films, also praised the museum for the deed and said, “He will be remembered as long as the tree is growing.” 

In addition, Mollaqolipur’s family donated his dog tag to the Film Museum of Iran.

Mollaqolipur died of a heart attack in 2007. His films center on stories about the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war and the repercussions of the event. 

His credits include “Journey to Chazzabeh” (1995), “The Burnt Slip” (1999), “The Poisonous Mushroom” (2002) and “M for Mother” (2006).
